How much does a wedding photographer cost in San Antonio? An honest guide
What wedding photography costs in San Antonio and the Hill Country, what drives the price, what is included, and how to choose the right coverage.

"How much is a wedding photographer?" is usually the second question I get, right after "are you available?" It deserves a straight answer, so here is how pricing works around San Antonio, what you actually get for the money, and how to decide what you need.
The short version
In my experience, couples in San Antonio, the Hill Country and Middle Tennessee spend somewhere between $2,500 and $6,000 on wedding photography. The low end is a newer photographer or a few hours of coverage. The high end is a full day with a second shooter, albums and extras. Most full-time, experienced photographers land in the middle.
My own collections sit in that middle:
- Essential Coverage, from $3,500. Simple, intentional coverage focused on the moments that matter most. Built for couples who want genuine storytelling and calm guidance without overcomplicating the day.
- All-Inclusive Coverage, from $4,500. Complete, stress-free coverage from getting ready to the send-off, for couples who want full peace of mind and every meaningful moment thoughtfully documented.
- Elopements and micro weddings have their own collection, because a two-hour courthouse morning and a forty-guest ranch ceremony are very different days.
Every collection includes an online gallery of edited, high-resolution images. Full details are on the investment page.
What actually drives the price
Hours of coverage. This is the biggest lever. Six hours covers a ceremony, portraits and the start of the reception. Eight to ten hours covers getting ready through the exit. More hours means more images, more editing and a longer day for your photographer.
Experience. A photographer who has shot a hundred weddings has a plan for rain, a late limo, a dark reception hall and a shy flower girl. You are paying for the problems you never find out about.
What is delivered. An online gallery of edited images is standard. Albums, prints, parent books, a second photographer and rush delivery all add to the total. Ask what's included before you compare two quotes.
Editing time. For every hour of shooting there are several hours of culling and editing. That work is where the "look" of your photos comes from, and it's invisible until you see the gallery.
Travel. Inside my regular service area, from San Antonio to Canyon Lake to Boerne, travel is included. Farther destinations, including my Tennessee dates, are quoted simply and in advance.
Where couples get surprised
- Deposits and timing. A non-refundable deposit secures your booking. The remaining balance is due on the day of your session.
- Hidden hour math. A six-hour collection that starts at 2 pm ends at 8 pm. If your exit is at 10:30, you need more hours or you need to move the exit. We'll plan this together on the timeline.
- "We'll just get a cheaper one." I've written about why you get what you pay for because I've watched friends go the budget route and come back heartbroken. Wedding photos are one of the few things from the day you keep forever.
How to choose the right coverage
- Write down the moments you can't live without. First look, vows, the toast, the dance floor, the exit. Count the hours between the first and the last.
- Decide how much "getting ready" matters. Dress, details and the quiet hour before the ceremony are some of the best photos of the day. If you want them, plan on All-Inclusive.
- Think about the guest count. Big weddings with lots of family mean more group photos and more moments happening at once. A second photographer earns its keep there.
- Ask about the gallery. How many images, how they're delivered, and whether you can download high-resolution files and print them.
Questions couples ask me
Do you include an engagement session? Ask me when you inquire. If we add one, it doubles as a practice run so your wedding portraits feel easy.
Can we add hours later? Yes. Most couples add an hour or two once the timeline is final.
Is there a travel fee? Not inside San Antonio and the Hill Country. Tennessee and destination dates are quoted in advance.
When do we get the photos? A sneak peek lands first so you have something to share, and the full online gallery follows.
If your date is open and you'd like a clear number for your day, tell me about your wedding. I reply within one business day.
